August – Staff Changes

August Case of the Month – Staff Changes

This month, the Swiftsure Equine team said goodbye to one of our valuable staff members and are welcoming two new part-time veterinary assistants.

Our full-time veterinary assistant Loranda has gone off to college! Loranda recently was accepted into Olds College for their Farrier Science program. Loranda has had a passion for farrier science since before starting with Swiftsure in February 2018. Before being accepted in the Olds Farrier Science program, Loranda had taken barefoot trimming courses through the Okanagan School of Natural Hoof Care. We are so excited and proud of Loranda and wish her all the best in her future endeavours.

New to our team is Lena! Lena will be out on farm as one of our part-time veterinary assistants.  She is currently attending Camosun College in pursuit of a degree in Accounting. In her spare time outside of work and school, Lena can be found riding and competing reining horses both on and off the Island. She also spends her time showing, breeding and training miniature horses through her personal business. We are excited to have Lena join the Swiftsure team!

Gloria is our other new part-time veterinary assistant joining the Swiftsure team! Gloria has been involved with horses for over 15 years, whether it has been through riding school horses, owning her own horses or working at the barn. Although Gloria is still working at the barn outside of her days at Swiftsure, you can also find her as a Metchosin volunteer firefighter! When not at work, Gloria spends her time hiking, camping and spending time with her beloved goats. Welcome to the Swiftsure team Gloria!
