After having a poor appetite for over a week, culminating in a fairly painful colic, Larkspur was referred to Equerry Sports Medicine and Surgery with Dr. Scruton for hospitalization and gastroscopy. Larkspur had severe ulceration of his stomach, which caused the poor appetite and colic. The ulcers were some of the worst that Dr. Scruton had ever seen! Over the next month Larkspur was treated for gastric ulcers and his appetite returned to normal. Just before Christmas, Dr. Kaitlin McDonald performed another gastroscopy on farm to evaluate how he was healing. Thankfully Larkspur was responding well to the medications and the gastric ulcers were nearly healed. Larkspur is continuing to do well and is back to enjoying trail rides with his owner over the Christmas holidays.
