June Case of the Month: Social Butterfly
Lucky is a social gelding that suffered a kick when he was out running in the field with his buddies. At first it seemed like a gentle graze on the front leg, removing the hair. However, Lucky was not that lucky. It turned out that the kick caused injury to his extensor tendon and the running around in the field caused further stress, leading to substantial damage to the tendon. Despite his injury, Lucky seemed happy and unphased, was minimally lame and still trying to play with his buddy over the fence while he was supposed to be resting. It’s been a frustrating but not uncommon experience for Lucky’s owner who is trying to keep him quiet and entertained to allow the tendon time to heal fully. Confinement has put a real damper on Lucky’s social life. I think we can all sympathize with Lucky’s situation.
